Product Description

The railway brake air reservoir is installed on the foundation brake rigging and stores high-pressure air delivered by the air compressor as the energy-storage device of the brake system. When the brake valve operates, compressed air flows from the reservoir through pipes into the brake cylinder to drive the piston and generate braking force. The reservoir is roll-formed and welded from stainless steel or aluminum alloy sheets, designed for a working pressure of 600 kPa and factory-tested by both water and air pressure (900 kPa / 5 min). It features reliable sealing, corrosion resistance and good weather resistance, adaptable to -50℃ to +70℃. Capacities cover 11L to 160L, suitable for railway passenger coaches, freight wagons, locomotives and rail vehicles, in line with general technical requirements of railway brake systems.

Elliptical Head Auxiliary Reservoir Train Air Brake Energy Storage Tank

Brake Air Storage

Store compressed air supplied by train pipe during brake release. It acts as independent brake air source separated from main reservoir, ensuring stable braking force without interference from transient pressure drop of main pipeline.

Brake Power Supply

When train pipe pressure drops for braking, the distributor valve connects auxiliary reservoir to brake cylinder. High-pressure air pushes brake piston to generate wheel braking force. When releasing, rising train pipe pressure refills the tank for next operation.

Pressure Stabilization & Buffering

Absorb air flow fluctuation, stabilize pipeline air pressure, eliminate pressure impact caused by air compressor startup and multi-vehicle synchronous braking, extending service life of brake valves.

Auxiliary Pneumatic Supply

Provide backup air for sanding device, air horn, windscreen wiper and other small pneumatic accessories.
